2009 Hobby Year In Review

This is a words-only post to recap on the year for my hobbies. It only seems like yesterday that 2009 was beginning, yet the reality is that another year has swiftly gone by. Reflecting back on 2009, it has certainly been a great hobby year. For figures collection, this is my 2^nd full year into the hobby having started it back in December 2007 and there are no signs of my passion abating.

For a start, a quick look at the statistics tells me that I have bought more figures than I did compare to my first full year of the hobby. In 2008, I bought a total of 56 figures, including 44 scale figures and 12 figmas. This year, I added 77 figures to my collection, which includes 56 scale figures and 21 Nendoroids. That’s a 37.5% percent increase and of course translates to more spending. O_O”. I can never seem to restrict my spending no matter how much I tried. I shall not elaborate on that since it would be kinda depressing to do so. ^^”

December 2009 Figures Haul – Part 2

Oops … the two figures who I thought would not made it in time for my December figures haul did made it in the end. It’s a good thing to be proven wrong this time though. So here’s part 2 of my December figures haul featuring my last figures of 2009 – Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid Kuro Kagami and Yui Hirasawa!

December 2009 Figures Haul

The year has certainly gone by pretty fast and before I knew it, I am in December and looking at my last haul post of the year. Anyway, this is a good month with a total of 6 figures – 4 scale figures and 2 Nendoroids added to my collection. I actually have another two figures scheduled for release this month but I am not expecting them to arrive before the end of the year.

BRS Black Blade ver., Nendoroid Sanae Kochiya and Code Geass R2 Premium set

Good Smile Company officially announces the scheduled release of the 1/8 scale figure of Black Rock Shooter Black Blade ver. and Nendoroid Sanae Kochiya today. These are definitely wonderful announcements on Christmas Day, although it literally means more damage to the wallet. ^^” Ichiban Kuji also updated their site with a look at the unpainted prototype figures from their upcoming Code Geass R2 ~ Romantic Variation ~ Premium Prize set.

Recent Figures Announced – More Pre-Orders!

It has been quite a while since I last posted anything here. I have been basically busy with all sorts of things the past weeks … haha … am certainly guilty of neglecting the blog. Anyway, I’m back to take a look at the figures that have aroused my interest recently.

One of the figures who I certainly can’t miss is Nendoroid Tsumugi Kotobuki by Good Smile Company.

 

Review of Saber Lily ~ Distant Avalon ~

To say that this figure of Saber Lily by Good Smile Company is the most anticipated figure of 2009 is certainly no exaggeration in my opinion. Besides the character’s popularity, one of the main reasons is probably that before Good Smile Company, no other figure maker has been able to capture Saber as accurately and vivdly as they did. Whether she is the figure of the year is subjective, but she is certainly the most popular.

Alpha x Omega Ranka Lee

Alpha x Omega officially announced the scheduled release of their 1/8 scale figure rendition of Ranka Lee from the anime Macross Frontier. The figure is scheduled for release in May 2010 for a retail price of 6,800 yen. This is an exciting announcement for me as I have been waiting for a long time for this figure.

November 2009 Figures Haul

November has been a rather good month for me with many great things happening. On the figures front, a total of 5 figures were added to my collection. They included a mixture of newly released and wishlisted figures … and again, some of them were completely unplanned for. There are always some great bargains or sales going on. ^^”

Nendoroid Fate Testarossa The Movie 1st

Good Smile Company officially announces Nendoroid Fate Testarossa ~ The Movie 1st version for scheduled release today. The Nendoroid is set for release in March 2010 for a retail of 3,500 yen. Fate, of course follows Nanoha as the 2nd Nendoroid from the Nanoha movie to be made by GSC.

Nendoroid Usa Mimi and Exclusive Azu-Nyan

I have been waiting for a long time for this official listing from Good Smile Company … they finally listed Nendoroid Usa Mimi from pre-order today! She is the third and final loli from the anime Kodomo no Jikan to be released as Nendoroid, following Kokonoe Rin and Kagami Kuro. Now the 3 friends are finally going to be united! ^^ Plus Dengeki revealed the colored prototype figure of Azu-Nyan from K-ON!
