My review of Alter’s Hayate Yagami

Posted by ELTboy on December 6, 2008

Here is my review of Alter’s 1/7 scale Hayate Yagami. She is the subject of my first figure photoshoot review. I guess quite a figure to pick for a first review. The resulting photographs are pretty amateurish as expected. The main issue was the shadows casted as a result of the poor lighting. There were also some harsh lighting. All in all, it was a good experience and I hope to improve my photography skills for future shoots. Thanks to Happy Soda’s tutorial on studio setup and lighting that got me started. Now on to the figure review.

Review of Alter Hayate Yagami

First up, the box art. Enough has been said of the box size. The design of the box is consistent with the previously released Vita. So we can expect the same for the remaining Nanoha Strikers line of figures by Alter.

Different views of miniature Reinforce Zwei that comes with Hayate.

For a figure this small, Reinforce Zwei is wonderfully sculpted and Alter does not let up on the details. There are scriptings on her Book of Azure Sky. Amazing.

The figure is a very worthy and majestic rendition of Hayate Yagami. The finished product is very, very close to the prototype. Credits to Alter and their quality control. Here are close-up shots of the figure.

The face of Hayate is alright. When the prototype came out, I thought Alter could do better. But the face sorta grows on me and certainly looks fine to me now. The attention paid to her clothings are again of Alter standards – very detailed. But I did notice that the top portion of the clothings is a shade lighter than the lower portion. Does any fellow owners of the figure notice that? I would have prefer a similar shade.

Here are shots of Hayate’s devices:

The devices are as well made as the figure herself. I wouldn’t have expect anything less from Alter either. The only gripe is probably the rod could have fit more smudgely into Hayate’s grip.

Alter once again brings us a masterpiece with this 1/7 scale Hayate Yagami. Fantastic sculpt and fine paint job all around. She is a a worthy centerpiece of any figures collection. Right now, she stands proudly in the company of Vita and KOS-MOS in the 2nd highest tier amongst my display cabinets. Top-tier would render indecent pantsu exposure. :)

Last point to make: She is THE figure of the year for 2008.
