Review of Limit Gunz
Posted by ELTboy on February 2, 2009
I must admit that when Limit Gunz was first announced, I thought of her as a nice figure that I probably wouldn’t own given that she is unknown to me and rather expensive. But all that change when I saw her prototype figure on display at Anime Festival Asia. I fell in love with her and knew immediately that I had to have her regardless of the price.

Pre-orders for her had already closed by then and thus I had to wait for her arrival at my local store, without the guarantee of securing her. I could hardly contain my excitement when I got her. She is my first figure from Artstorm. She is also my first 1/6 scale figure which would have officially made her my biggest figure although in actuality, she isn’t.
As always, the review starts with an all round look at the figure.
Although Limit Gunz is 1/6 scale, her actual size is more like between 1/8 and 1/7 scale. I actually like that because she looks very in sync when with the rest of my collection. I have to say that even though I had previously saw her actual prototype up-close, I still went “oh my god!” when I took her out of the box. That’s how awesome she is.
Next is a close-up at her face sculp.

I have stop looking at the box art as part of my figure reviews but I have to mention that I like the design very much. There is an actual Mine Yoshizaki illustration of Limit Gunz on the box which allows me to draw comparision on how well the figure is made. The face sculpt is fine to me, although I feel that perhaps the eyes could be slightly better. The gaze just lacks that little bit of emotion. The hair is actually quite nice and true to the illustration.
Next is a look at her outfit.

The outfit worn is very nicely done. The only thing that I notice when checking back on the illustration is that the wordings on the tie are not replicated on the figure. Would have been nice, but not a major problem for me. The gun she holds in her left arm is also another very detailed work on the figure.
Next is a close-up look at her huge weapon.

I have a penchant for figures with oversized weapons and this weapon of Limit Gunz is really amazing. The weapon is exactly the same as the illustration. It is very well made and the details on the weapon are exellcent. The weapon despite its size is well support as its stand is attached to the base and thus no danger of possible breakage in the future.
Next is a close-up look at Limit Gunz’s legs and the figure base.

Nice legs. Even her dainty shoes have good details on them. The figure base is a simple white base with prints of the character name. I feel that the simple base compliments the sophistication of the figure really well. I guess there really is nothing I dislike about the figure.

Overall, this figure is really excellent. In fact, I like her so much that I now officially declare her as one of my most favorite figure amongst my current collection. I can’t rate this figure highly enough. I feel that the figure is of Alter quality, with outstanding sculpture and great paintjob. Yes, she might be pricey but she is worth every penny in my opinion. A definite must-buy.
For those unconvinced, more review of the figure is available at Exelica Meteor.
I have never thought of Artstorm as an excellent figure maker, but figures from their LILICS series are of the highest quality. Besides Limit Gunz, there is also Canal who was released last December and upcoming Nasca from the same series. I have seen all of the actual prototypes of these figures up-close and they are all excellent. I might even be getting Nasca in the future but for now, I am contented with my beloved Limit Gunz. ^^

Wow, that’s a sweet figure. I wasn’t sure about getting her. That huge gun just looks sick.

as a fan of obscenely large weapons or other flourishes figures may sport, didn’t take too much to convince me to order limit gunz ^^ said so at exelica meteor, but i gotta say it again…. love that sexay gun! also her slightly shifted center of balance to brace herself from the recoil… good stuff!
nice shots! forgive me if you’ve mentioned it earlier (i have a terrible memory), but what kind of camera/lens are you using?

@James: Thanks. I really love her. ^^
@Chappy: Thanks. I didn’t know who she was either, but I couldn’t pass up such an awesome figure.
@Jem: LOL… hope you get her in the end … she is really awesome!
@Meronpan: Wow … I didn’t notice her posture that much … now that you mention it … it does looks like she is bracing for the recoil once her gun lets off the blasts.
I uses Fujifilm Finepix F40 for the photoshoots. It’s a low range digicam but I make do with what I have and try to make the most out of it. Would love to own a top range camera one day but I doubt so with the amount I am spending on all my figure purchases.

Ya…me too. Wouldn’t want to waste on a good camera when I still have loads to learn about photography. What’s more, figures always win! (^_-)
