Megahobby Expo 2009 Winter – Full Look
Posted by ELTboy on February 10, 2009
I was originally intending to do a full coverage look at the event tomorrow when it is officially opened to the public. But seeing that the event was already opened for media today and with numerous coverage reports of the event already up, I decided to just go ahead with the look at the event today, hence edit of my preview post.
The main organizers for the event is Megahouse and the invited exhibitors list include Alter, Hobby Japan, Eye Up and Sol International. The most exciting aspect of this event is of course the figures on display, and I will look at the event maker by maker.

ALTER
Alter’s booth undoubtedly would draw in the most audience and rightly so. They definitely has the most exciting line-up of figures on display. We start off with their display of their latest Nanoha StrikerS figures.
1/7 scale Nanoha Takamachi – release info not available

Impressive sculpture of Nanoha. Quite possibily the best Nanoha figure yet. Reminds me of Exelica Triggerheart. She is definitely a confirmed GET for me!
1/7 scale Fate T. Harlaown – scheduled for summer release

At long last, we see the painted prototype figure of Fate. She is really beautiful and I like how Alter uses glossy finish for her suit. Fate will come with both Riot Zamber as shown above as well as split Riot Blades. Definite GET although I have a real headache on-hand – I am not sure if she can fit into my display cabinet. ~_~”
1/7 scale Shamal – release info not available

The latest figure from Nanoha StrikerS to be announced – Shamal. Although no prototype figure is on display, this is also a must get for me – if only just to complete the set. ^^
1/8 scale Narika Shihoudou – scheduled for June 2009 release

She is the 2nd figure from the eroge, Chouko Sennin Haruka, to get the figure treatment from Alter. Very nice and as dynamically posed as Haruka. Definite GET for me as well since I already have Haruka.
1/8 scale Saber Lily – release information not available

Damn … another Saber Lily figure and I had just ordered Good Smile’s version. She does not look as imposing as Good Smile’s but need to look at her again after she is painted. If she turns out as good as Good Smile’s …. * looks at wallet * …. T_T
1/8 scale Yoko – scheduled for June 2009 release

Awesome. She looks bad-assed. The finishing on this sculpture is amazing and I will die to get this Yoko figure. She’s going to be my third Yoko figure. Oh … and I see camel-toe. ^^”
And here we have a pair of figures from the anime Tower of Druaga – Aegis of Uuruk.
1/8 scale Kaaya – scheduled for summer release

1/8 scale Fatina – scheduled for summer release

Thankfully, no GET for me when it comes to these two figures, simply because I don’t watch the anime and don’t know anything about these two characters.
1/8 scale Toko Aozaki – scheduled for June 2009 release

Very nice figure even if I am not familiar with the character. She hails from the anime Kara no Kyokai. As can be seen, she will come with two different heads. Me pefers the spectacled look. Highly possible GET for me because I like the figure. ^^
Here are shots of soon to be release figures.
1/8 scale Yomako Sensei – scheduled for February 2009 release

1/8 scale Senhime – scheduled for March 2009 release
1/8 scale Yuki Nagato – scheduled for March 2009 release

1/8 Louise ~ Uniform version – scheduled for March 2009 release

Hobby Japan
Next we look at the Samurai Girls figures from the Alter and Hobby Japan collaboration.
1/8 scale Yagyu Jubei – release info not available

1/8 scale Sanada Yukimura – release info not available.

Both figures looked really good and they reminds me of Good Smile Company’s Shuraki Trinity series. They will be definite GETs for me if they are not exclusive figures
1/8 scale Iroha – scheduled for March 2009 release at 6800 yen

Very nice. This Iroha ~ Queen’s Gate version figure is a Hobby Japan Mail order exclusive. So as much as I like this figure, I won’t be able to get her unless my local store is bringing her in.
Alpha x Omega
1/8 Sheryl Nome – release schedule not available
After Klan Klang, Sheryl Nome is the next character from Macross Frontier to get the figure treatment. Here is the unpainted prototype that was on display.

Very impressive sculpt of Sheryl Nome. Most definitely GET for me! Looking at her makes me want to get Klan Klang as well and can’t wait to see a Ranka Lee sculpt by Alpha x Omega too.
Also on display is the previously announced Villetta Nu figure. Me already has her pre-ordered. ^^
1/8 scale Villetta Nu ~ Swimming Club Cafe ver. – scheduled for April 2009 release at 6,615 yen

Megahouse
1/8 scale Yuitto – release schedule not available

This unpainted prototype figure of Yuitto is the latest from Megahouse’s Queen’s Blade/Gate series. She is from the Rebellion variant of Queen’s Blade. She looks very small here … will decide when I see the painted prototype.
Here are some of the already announced but yet to release figures on display.
1/8 scale Annerotte – scheduled for February 2009 release at 6,300 yen

1/8 scale Menas & 2P variant – scheduled for April 2009 release at 6,300 yen

1/8 scale Zero – scheduled for April 2009 release at 7,980 yen

1/8 Ranka Lee ~ Nose Art version – scheduled for May 2009 release for 5,985 yen

Eye Up
Unknown scale Simon – release schedule not available

A figure of Simon riding Lagann – talk about a dream come true! Not much information available but hope is 1/8 scale to match my Yoko and Kamina by Eye Up too. GET!
Unknown scale Birdy – scheduled for June 2009 release at 7,800 yen

An uncompleted prototype figure of Birdy from the anime Tetsuwan Birdy Decode. Haven’t watch the anime so not too sure about the character. Might turn out good but kinda pricey. Most probably 1/8 scale.
Unknown scale Rei Ayanami – scheduled for summer release

This is an announcement of yet another upcoming Rei figure. Looks real promising.
Alrighty, I should have covered most of the figures. These kind of events are precisely the reason I wished that I lived in Japan. Well, looks like plenty of GETs for me from this event. My wallet is in shock. >_<”
Anyway, there are loads more merchandises and other figures on display. You can find full coverage at the following blogs and sites:

Alter Saber Lily is not as nice as GSC so I am safe from that one. Wanted to get Alter Yoko, but my budget in June doesn’t looks too good though. Alter Fate and Nanoha is a must get no matter what

looks like that nanoha pic that surfaced earlier was indeed something else. no matter, i like the actual prototype just as much ^^
gawd i can’t wait for fate.
luckily lily doesn’t strike me as energetic and having the wow that gsc’s version has teased us with. i’m hoping that thought sticks, ‘cuz otherwise that’s another alter baby to pick up ^^;;
yoko, nanoha, fate, shamal and narika for me so far ^^;

The first thing i want is definitely Feito-chan. Next is Nanoha if i have money. Narika looks nice as well. Yuki pre-ordered long ago. That’s all i guess. XD

To me, something is god-awful wrong with Bounty Hunter Yoko and Fatina. Much as I like Fatina as well from Druaga, this figure just makes her look…fat. Something is off with Yoko’s face too.

@Valho: June is forecasted to be a killer month for me too! So many figures I want ….
@Jem: Me want them too … hopefully they are not exclusive figures.
@Meronpan: I saw 10 figures that I want from this event. (0_0)” … My wallet is still crying non-stop since yesterday ^^”
@Chappy: Must get Nanoha too… Feito can’t be without Nanoha.
@Panther: Don’t know about Fatina but agree that Yoko didn’t turn out as great as anticipated. Think it is the tone and choice of colors. But me still love the sculpt and will definitely get her!
@Vixon: I am in figures paradise… hehe …
