WonHobby 9 – Full Look
Posted by ELTboy on February 14, 2009
Today mark the 2nd major figures event in a week at UDX Akiba Square with Good Smile Company’s and Max Factory’s [ Wonderful Hobby Life For You ], a.k.a. WonHobby 9. The event is primarily organized to be a showcase for Good Smile’s Nendoroids and Max Factory’s figmas, although there were scale figures on display as well.
Quite a few coverage reports on the event were up pretty fast. Here’s a look through at the event.

Events like these are always exciting for me because we get to see many new figures. Well, let’s get started. ^^
FIGMA
figma Hiiragi Kagami ~ Miku version – scheduled for April 2009 release at 2500 yen

As if Nendoroid MikuMikuKagami is not enough, Max Factory introduces figma Hiiragi Kagami as Miku again! She looks cute here but I still prefer the Nendoroid version though.
figma Drossel von Flugel – release schedule not available

And look … it’s figma Drossel. Now, that’s a figma that you wouldn’t mind having joints on. Okay, I don’t know much about this character, but this figma looks really good. Might tempt me out of “figma retirement”. ^^”
figma Tsuruya-san ~ Culture Festival version – scheduled for May 2009 release

figma Asahina ~ Mikuru Maid version – scheduled for May 2009 release.

The Haruhi line of figmas by Max Factory just doesn’t seem to end. After yesterday’s announcement of Haruhi summer clothes version, we now have figma Tsuruya-san and Mikuru. Anyway, despite me being a Haruhi fanboy, these figmas are no get for me.
Here are the other previously announced figmas that were on display at the event.

By the way, there is a Billy Herrington figma on display as well, but the figma disgusts me to no ends and I won’t be posting any pictures of that.
Next, we head off to the exiciting chibi corner of Nendoroids!
NENDOROIDS
Nendoroid Saber Lily – release schedule not available

There is just no stopping Saber Lily. She now has her Nendoroid form. Strangely, I don’t think I will be getting her though since I have already pre-ordered the scale figure and don’t really prefer her in Nendoroid form. Oh well, whether I buy her or not will probably depend on what are the other expressions.
Nendoroid Zange-chan – release schedule not available

Nendoroid Zange-chan?! GET! Nagi-sama would be mad at me if I don’t get her imouto even though they might not be on fantastic terms. So kawaii … and look at those impurities around her. LOL … For those who doesn’t know Zange-chan, no she doesn’t cost 100 yen. She’s a cosplaying kami-sama who will listen to your confessions. ^^ By the way, I think I can smell Nendoroid Tsugumi. ^^”
Nendoroid Imoko Shishido ~ Maidroid form – scheduled for June 2009 release

GET … GET … GET!!! Nendoroid Imo-chan is GET for me! Pity that they didn’t display the Nendoroid with her head open, ala seeing Imo-chan riding the Maidroid … “I have control” … ~LOL … can’t wait to see the other expressions.
Nendoroid Priecia - scheduled for July 2009 release

Here is a first look at the completed and painted prototype of Nendoroid Priecia and a mini Nendoroid Kagura. Looks quite nice although not as cute as the other Nendoroids in my opinion.
Nendoroid Asakura Otome – release schedule not available

Nendoroid Otome Asakura has been in the works for a while and finally an unpainted prototype is on display. Seems like there will be a normal and limited edition release for the Nendoroid. Looking good.
Nendoroid Drossel von Frugel – release schedule not available

And another Drossel prototype figure on display at the event, this time in Nendoroid form. Hmmm… figma or Nendoroid? I will wait to see the painted prototype but I do think figma seems a more suitable form for the character.
Nendoroid Leonardo-Hakase - release schedule not available

Professor Leonardo from Eagle Talon gets the Nendoroid treatment. No prototype figure was on display.
Nendoroid Usacots – release schedule not available

Usacots from Tentai Senshi Sunred gets the Nendoroid treatment. No prototype figure was on display.
Upcoming Nendoroids – Megurine Luka and Ryogi Shiki

Announcement of upcoming Nendoroids in the works. I would be very interested in Nendoroid Megurine Luka since I already have Nendoroid Miku Hatsune and Rin Kagamine. Also can’t wait for GSC to make a scale figure of Megurine … she would look fabulous.
Here are the rest of the previously announced but unreleased Nendoroids that were on display. I will be getting Nagi-sama and Kokonoe Rin from this batch.

And here are some upcoming Nendoroid Puchi on display at the event, including new ones in the form of Chaos;Head’s Rimi Sakihata and Vocaloid’s Megurine Luka.

And now a look at the scale figures on display.
SCALE FIGURES
1/8 Black Rockshooter by Good Smile Company – scheduled for summer release

Good Smile Company introduces a new figure in the form of Black Rockshooter. I don’t know much about her though. A quick search reveals that she is a character similar to Vocaloid’s Miku Hatsune and some has dubbed her as the dark rock version of Miku. But one thing I know is that she looks fantastic and I will be getting her!
1/8 Akiha Shishido by Good Smile Company – scheduled for July 2009 release
Like Nendoroid Imo-chan, this scale figure of Akiha Shishido is GET, GET, GET for me! ^^ This rendition of Akiha is really spot-on. The only strange thing is that there was an Imo-chan beside Akiha in the unpainted prototype displayed at Comiket 75. Now, Imo-chan is missing from the painted prototype. Strange, but might be that GSC is still painting Imo-chan. ^^”
1/8 Sakurai Kanade by Good Smile Company – scheduled for July 2009 release

Good Smile Company announced a pair of new figures from the ONA, Candy Boy. The first to be made is Kanade Sakurai while a matching Yukino Sakurai will be made as well. Quite a promising set of figures to look forward to.
1/8 Subaru Nakajima by Good Smile Company – scheduled for September 2009 release

A Subaru Nakajima figure by Good Smile?! Yes but wait … it is noted that this figure will be the first of a new line of Scale Action Figures by Good Smile Company. Oh action figures … no GET for me then. Thanks.
1/7 Reco by Max Factory – scheduled for June 2009 release

Not sure about this figure but she hails from the game Mushi Hime Sama Futari. Thankfully, the figure doesn’t appeal to me, so my wallet is safe from this one.
1/6 Morrigan by Max Factory – scheduledfor July 2009 release

Dont’ want.
1/8 Zange-chan by FREEing – scheduled for summer release

A new 1/8 scale figure of Zange-chan has been announced and she is the 2nd Kannagi character to get the figure treatment from FREEing. I didn’t order the Nagi-sama figure by FREEing because I didn’t like the face sculpt. Hopefully this one turns out better.
1/6 Kanu Unchou (Aisha) by FREEing – scheduled for summer release

Kanu Unchou from the anime Koihime Musou. Me thinks the anime is bad but that Kanu would make a lovely figure given her costume. But 1/6 scale is too big for my liking for a character from an anime I don’t like.
1/4 Konata Izumi by FREEing – scheduled for June 2009 release at 11,800 yen

This is it. The start of a a new line of Lucky Star figures in PE Clothes and at 1/4 scale! First up is Konata Izumi. I must admit that the outfit choosen is actually not that appealing to me but the possibility of a 1/4 Tsukasa with castoffable real fabric PE clothes is driving me mad! And we all know I am a slave to completing sets. G….E….T! ^^”
1/4 Kuro Kagami – scheduled for summer release
1/4 Mimi Usa -scheduled for autumn release

After Kokonoe Rin, FREEing has decided on more 1/4 figures from the anime Kodomo no Jikan. Oh this sounds pretty exciting. This makes me want to get that Kokonoe Rin figure.
1/4 Kokonoe Rin by FREEing ~ Comic High Special version – scheduled for June 2009 release at 12,000 yen

FREEing also announces a new special version of their 1/4 scale Kokonoe Rin Gym Clothes version. Hmm … I wonder how different this version will be from the original version.
1/4 ? ? ? ? by FREEing – release schedule not available

FREEing showcase a prototype figure without a figure head?! Well, looks like they want to keep fans guessing. The character looks real sexy. The ultimate question: Who is she?
1/8 Saber Lily by Gift (Resin Kit) – scheduled for March 1st 2009 release at 12,600 yen

Gift joins Good Smile Company and Alter in making a Saber Lily figure. This time, it is a 1/8 scale resin kit of Saber Lily. No actual prototype figure is on display though. The resin kit will be on sale at HobbyComplex GK01 on 1st March 2009.
Anyway, this is actually depressing news because I am 100% sure that a PVC version will be mass produced. Gift’s Saber and Solid Theater’s Saber Alter all started as resin kits from the hands of Satoshi Toda. So why depressing? As a collector, I do not prefer to buy figures of a character in the same outfit. I already has Good Smile’s Saber Lily pre-ordered. Alter’s version appeals to me because of the 1/8 scale. Now, a 1/8 Gift version comes along.
I actually like the pose shown as it looks very in sync with the pose of my current Solid Theater’s and Gift’s Saber. Most likely GET when a PVC version is available. For once, sorry Alter.
1/8 Ikagura Satsuki by Artstorm – scheduled for June 2009 release at 7,800 yen

The character is from the game, Seinarukana. First impression is that this figure is not nice at all. Another wallet saver here.
1/8 Narika Shihoudou by Alter - scheduled for July 2009 release

There were quite a few Alter figures on display at the event. Guess Alter is friendly with Good Smile. Anyway, will only show Narika since this is a first time look at the painted prototype of the figure. Hmm… seems like Alter only took them a few days to complete the paint job since they showcase the unpainted prototype just days ago. Anyway, GET!
Here are the previously announced but yet to release figures on display. Me still yet to decide on Mikuru Adultversion. -_-”

That’s all from the event. Quite a few figures’ were not allowed to be photographed at the event, hence only the name plates. But not to worry, I am sure they will all surface very soon. ^^”
Lucikly, compared to Megahobby, only a few must gets here for me - Nendoroid Zange-chan, Nendoroid Imoko Shishido and 1/8 Black Rockshooter. But the 1/4 scale Lucky Star and Kodomo no Jikan figures from FREEing are very high possibility for me as well. ^^”

Dorsel is Disney Japan’s version of Miku Hatsune. She’s also known as “Miki (Mickey) Hatsune” or Fake Miku (as others call her) and she’s from a Disney Japanese Seris with 13 Episodes of 2 minutes each episode. It’s really funny! Try watching it! ^o^

My To-Get-List is already packed-up. It has Mikuru Combat Waitress, Haruhi Summer Uniform, Makina Hoshimura, and Dorsel. I’m still thinking about getting the Tsuruya Maid Version since she doesn’t have waist Articulation. Yes, her waist isn’t moveable. YoY

@Valho: Black Rockshooter is gonna be another much sought afte figure. I can only imagine her price… -_-”
@29point55: Cool … thanks for sharing on Drossel. Didn’t know she is connected to Miku. ^^

Hmmmm, why does Miku have closed eyes in that last picture. Same here, ELTboy. I am contemplating the FREEing Kodomo no Jikan and Lucky Star figures. The Lucky Star Konata is the best looking scaled version of her and it would be nice to own a Konata that isn’t a figma or nendoroid.

@Jem: That Miku figure is a CM version which is not available for sales. She was specially designed for GSC’s TV commercial. Would definitely love to have the big FREEing figures but they really cost a bomb which is why I didn’t buy any of the Haruhi bunnies in the first place. So sad …. T_T
