Review of Teana Lanster
Posted by ELTboy on February 21, 2009
I finally gotten my hands on Alter’s 1/7 scale Teana Lanster from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS. It’s been nearly a month’s wait since her release in Japan late last month. Anyway, she is my fourth Nanoha StrikerS figure by Alter, after Vita, Hayate and Signum. So how does she compare to the previous 3 figures?

For a start, here’s an all round look at the figure.
Generally, the figure looks wonderful and maintains Alter’s high figure standards, especially from their Nanoha Strikers line. She might not have the wow factor of Hayate but in terms of quality, she is just as good. And I like the pose selected as it suits Teana very well.
Let’s take a closer look at the figure, starting with the face sculpt.

Personally, I feel that the face sculpt done by Mumei is really spot-on. The paint job on the hair of my copy isn’t the cleanest as there are some minor dirt marks on the front, otherwise the hair sculpt is nicely done, especially the flow of the ponytails.
Next is a closer look at Teana’s Barrier Jacket outfit.

This is one of the best part of the figure sculpture in my opinion. The detailing of the outfit is really great. The folds and creases of her entire outfit caused by Teana’s twisted posture is really wonderfully done. The paint job on her outfit is also generally clean. There was not much shading on the outfit compared to the previous Nanoha StrikerS figures, but I guess there was not much shading required.
Here’s a closer look at Teana’s device, Cross Mirage.

Teana’s device came fixed in her grip, which is a pleasant surprise. I would love it if all figures come with their weapons attached as sometimes the grip on these accessories are not very secured. Anyway, she comes with two additional arms to depict Cross Mirage with the dagger blades form. I personally prefer Teana to hold Cross Mirage with dagger blades.
Next is a look at Teana’s legs and the figure base.

Awesome legs on Teana and paint job here is wonderful. There is no surprises for the figure base which adopts the same rectangular white base with Teana’s information on it. As mentioned in my previous reviews, I am not a fan of the base. Moreover, Teana’s gonna take up more space than I wished for.
Teana’s jacket can be taken off and here’s how she looks like.

Actually, the fact that Teana’s jacket can be taken off came as a nice surprise to me. When the prototype figure was announced, I never expected Teana to have any form of castoffability (like the rest of the Nanoha StrikerS figures). She does look very nice here. Taking off her jacket reveals and shows off her body contours even more.

This figure of Teana Lanster is another very satisfying purchase. And this is also surely the best Teana figure available. Well there’s not a lot of her figures to begin with anyway. ^^” She is highly recommended to fans of the character or anime, and in fact I feel she is a worthy addition to any collection.

My next Nanoha StrikerS figure will be Subaru Nakajima by Alter, although it will be a few more agonizing months of waiting before her official release in Japan in June later this year.

I love your photos and your choice of background for this figure.
I am not too fan of Nanoha, but I like Teena well.

Thanks! I think my photos are nothing compared to yours though. ^^ Am hoping to learn and improve more as I do more photoshoots.

I love this. I pre’d her, too even though I still don’t know anything about the series. After getting ALTER Fate, I need a complete ALTER line-up now. Your pictures are beautiful as always. I’m surprised and pleased with the guns already in her hands because if I didn’t know, I would have believed the grip to be quite secure.
I didn’t know she had any type of castoffability, but she looks beautiful without the jacket. I’m the opposite from you as I like the bases, but I understand the base is more of a space problem than anything else.
I can’t wait for Subaru either. She looks gorgeous.

Thanks. The base is indeed a problem. I had difficulty for all my Nanoha StrikerS figures to be together on a single shelf in my display cabinet because of their bases. And goodness knows how I can fit in Fate.
Can’t wait for Subaru too! ^^

Oh, I didnt know you can remove Teana’s jacket. I like Teana’s figure because of the high detail. Thx 4 the pictures.

i was also pleasantly surprised by the fixed grip on the pistols. i hate worrying about breakage doing cast off stuff, and changing her whole arm is so much less stressful.
though it might look out of place and is probably unlikely, i’m praying that alter changes the base for fate and nanoha… they’re just not as epic as those figures deserve

Totally agree. Alter should change those bases as I feel they are crap and takes up a ridiculous amount of space. But sadly, I don’t think it’s gonna happen.
Anyway, I seriously think I need to find a customised storage solution for Fate. No display cabinet on the market is gonna fit her in unless customised. Oh well, I have months to think about the solution since she is likely scheduled for July/August.
