Review of Yomako Sensei
Posted by ELTboy on April 7, 2009
I have had this figure of Yomako Sensei for a while but I didn’t take her out of her box due to lack of space to house her in my display cabinet. I finally did some rearrangements of my figures and eventually managed to find space for her next to my Eye Up (now known as UpLark) Yoko. Hence the opportunity for a photoshoot review of the figure.

This figure of Yomako Sensei is manufactured by Alter and sculpted by Toshiaki Numakura. She was released in February 2009 and is 1/8 scale. I almost didn’t pre-order her as I was caught in two minds whether to get her or not, mainly because I was already overloaded with pre-orders for February at the time she was announced. I made a late decision to get her and was quite glad I did.
Alright, starting things off for the review is an all-round look at the figure.
The figure herself does not come with much details but depsite her simplicity, she is quite a lovely figure. And after so many figures of Yoko in her customary outfit, it is a nice change to see a figure of Yoko in a different outfit.
Here’s a closer look at her face sculpt and hair.
I feel that the face and hair sculpt is great and I especially love her long flowing hair. I think this is the only scale figure of Yoko where her hair is not tied up. It is a good thing too that her glasses comes stuck with the figure and not separately.
There is however a difference in the color tone of the hair from the prototype. The prototype shows a darker tone while the resulting figure’s hair is of a more vibrant color. It might be due to the lighting and might be the same afterall, but the hair color which I see on the resulting figure is definitely better and closer to Yoko’s original hair color.
Next is a closer look at her sensei outfit.
I guess we are all quite used to seeing figures of Yoko in her bikini top and hot pants. Yoko as Yomako Sensei is fully clothed and buttoned up, but really, it takes none of the sexiness away from her. Her tight dress really shows off her full figure well. I am not sure why but I quite like the looks of her collars and tie.
The lower part of her dress is quite simple and is more of a tight skirt. Unlike most of the other parts of the figure, there are more obvious shadings here and they are nicely done. This part of the skirt is also made of more rubbery material and one can actually lift up and bend her dress if one wishes to. For info, she wears white pantsu. ^^”
The figure comes with the teacher’s stick which you see Yoko holding and a chalk as well. Thus one can have to option of sticking one of those in her right hand. I didn’t take any photos of her holding a chalk though as I was too plain lazy to take the chalk out of the box. Sorry about that. ^^”
A closer look at her footwear and figure base.
Not much to comment regarding her high heels and the figure base as they are quite simple. The base is made to resemble a wooden floor which is similar to the place where she teaches in the anime.
Overall, I quite like this figure and Alter is able to bring out the loveliness of a simple figure. The overall sculpture is of good quality and paint job is fine all-round on my copy although there are a few minor paint blisters. Having said that, I do think the figure would appeal more to fans of Yoko due to her simplicity.
Alter’s next figure release from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is again Yoko in her bounty hunter version. I have her pre-ordered as well and is quite excited about her. She will likely be my last Yoko figure and when I received her, I pledge to take a family shot of my three Yokos together.

Thanks! ^^ I noticed that not a lot of people got her … maybe most are waiting for the bounty hunter version.

i’m already over allocated on yoko figures with enterbrain’s on hand and bounty hunter version on order… i’m not a yoko fanatic so i really only wanted one figure of her ^^;; so! i will have to own her vicariously through you and whoever else puts up a review ^^;
nice pics… wish i had the budget to have a yoko army ^^;

When I started collecting figures, my principle was only 1 figure of each character. But I soon realised that is nearly impossible with all those beautiful figures. Now my principle is only 1 figure of each character in the same outfit.
I am actually not that crazy over Yoko. I just thought it would be great to have her in 3 different outfits and looks. ^^”

Great review! I don’t understand why more people didn’t buy this because I’m really sick of all the normal versions of Yoko that you see and they’re really not as nice as an ALTER version.

Thanks! Agreed … quite a few Yoko figures are .. ermm… not the best looking. Alter is the best and I seriously think it’s a dream come true for any figure collectors if Alter (and GSC for most parts) decides to make a figure of your favourite character.

I have lost faith in GSC for being ridiculous. I definitely agree about it being a dream come true if it’s ALTER. I’ll even add Alpha Omega and Megahouse for their Queen’s Blade line. My husband practically is cool with me buying all Megahouse QB figures especially if they are limited because it’s his favorite line next to ALTER. I really like Max Factory a lot, but they are focusing more on figmas which I’m not too excited about.
I don’t own any Yoko figures right now. Have both the ALTER, Kotobukiya movie ver. and GSC nendoroid pre’d. I would have liked to buy the Eyescream Yoko and Kamina – such a cute couple.

Now this was a Yoko figure after my own heart. Not that the others arn’t super cute/awesome. But this ones outfit is just really nice. The stripes/indents in her top, I love vertical stripes in jumpers/vests. My Koto Hoshina has a ribbed jumper. Tis lovely.

That’s cool…It’s always great to buy figures you have loads of love for, as opposed to buying one just because it is popular or on sale.

Though Yomako looks good, it’s from Alter after all, I still prefer the cool looking Yoko more, I just can’t wait for Alter Yoko Bounty Hunter version to be release

Hell yeah, me too … Bounty Hunter Yoko rocks. ^^

Really nice reviews, with great picture.
At first, I wanted to pre-order this figurine, but finally, I don’t regret. She is nice, but a young something is missing to kink me ^^

Thanks. ^^ I guess most still prefer the younger and explosive Yoko. I actually like Yoko at all the different stages of her life in the anime. So no real preference as long as the figure is good.
