Kotobukiya Celestia and Nendoroid Reimu Preview
Posted by ELTboy on July 3, 2009
Kotobukiya today officially announced the scheduled release of a Celestia figure who is the 10th figure from the Shining Wind series to be made by them. Her official announcement came as a minor surprise as I was expecting her to be presented only at Wonder Festival later this month. The other figure news today that caught my attention today was the preview of Nendoroid Hakurei Reimu by Mika-tan.

Celestia is 1/8 scale and scheduled for release in October 2008 for a retail price of 5,800 yen. The overall sculpt looks good with the figure showing a relax and serene disposition. I would wish for brighter colors for the figure though as the overall tone of the figure looks a tad dull. But this could be the way she is since I am not familiar with the character and original illustration.
She is a figure that I believe I will get eventually but she won’t be on my immediate pre-order list since I already have quite a few for October. Most likely, like Xecty and Elwing, I will bid my time to get the figure at a decent price.
Over at Mika-tan’s blog today, there was a preview and a first look at the prototype figure of Nendoroid Hakurei Reimu, of the Touhou fame.

There are no details regarding the sales info of the figure except that she is set to be a Comiket event exclusive. She might be available for sales in other channels too but there is no information as of now. More information will be released in the latter part of the month according to the post.
Again, I am not familiar with the character despite the Touhou Project seemingly being quite popular. My first impression of the sculpt is that the face looks like Nendoroid Hatsune Miku. Overall, she is cute like most Nendoroids while I like her outfit design as well. I would definitely love to get her if she is not too difficult to get. Wonder if other Touhou characters will get Nendoroid releases as well.

Kotobukiya has done a really fantastic job again with bringing out the accuracy of the Shining Wind girls and their original illustration. I really like that they made a nendoroid for this series.
Both of these are gets for me.

Koto’s shining wind girls are all quite nice. Max Factory’s figures of the girls are of superior sculpt quality but they are releasing them so slowly and I don’t prefer 1/7 scale. I am just afraid they might come up with a Xecty/Elwing figure soon that is hard to resist.

You can’t beat Max Factory’s Kureha, but the Kotobukiya is very nice nice for the price tag. Max Factory’s Seena could have been nicer for me, but she is not as nice as the Kureha. I am not sure if Max Factory will continue the line. If they do, then I will just go and buy them, but for now Kotobukiya is fulfilling my fix for the series and at a very affordable price.

She is a cutie. I wonder what her other faces will look like though and what kinda accessories will come with her. She is going to be a much sought after item i think.

Comiket event exclusive? Does that mean you can’t buy it outside of the Comiket thingy?

Technically you can’t if she is indeed only an event exclusive. So you will need to either go through a proxy service or wait for auction. Some authorised distributors for GSC in various countries might be able to get her, but even that is rare. So hopefully, GSC will make her available through other channels beside Comiket.
