Review of Saber Lily ~ Distant Avalon ~

To say that this figure of Saber Lily by Good Smile Company is the most anticipated figure of 2009 is certainly no exaggeration in my opinion. Besides the character’s popularity, one of the main reasons is probably that before Good Smile Company, no other figure maker has been able to capture Saber as accurately and vivdly as they did. Whether she is the figure of the year is subjective, but she is certainly the most popular.

Alpha x Omega Ranka Lee

Alpha x Omega officially announced the scheduled release of their 1/8 scale figure rendition of Ranka Lee from the anime Macross Frontier. The figure is scheduled for release in May 2010 for a retail price of 6,800 yen. This is an exciting announcement for me as I have been waiting for a long time for this figure.

November 2009 Figures Haul

November has been a rather good month for me with many great things happening. On the figures front, a total of 5 figures were added to my collection. They included a mixture of newly released and wishlisted figures … and again, some of them were completely unplanned for. There are always some great bargains or sales going on. ^^”

Nendoroid Fate Testarossa The Movie 1st

Good Smile Company officially announces Nendoroid Fate Testarossa ~ The Movie 1st version for scheduled release today. The Nendoroid is set for release in March 2010 for a retail of 3,500 yen. Fate, of course follows Nanoha as the 2nd Nendoroid from the Nanoha movie to be made by GSC.

Nendoroid Usa Mimi and Exclusive Azu-Nyan

I have been waiting for a long time for this official listing from Good Smile Company … they finally listed Nendoroid Usa Mimi from pre-order today! She is the third and final loli from the anime Kodomo no Jikan to be released as Nendoroid, following Kokonoe Rin and Kagami Kuro. Now the 3 friends are finally going to be united! ^^ Plus Dengeki revealed the colored prototype figure of Azu-Nyan from K-ON!

Anime Festival Asia 2009

Anime Festival Asia 2009, or AFA09 for short, was held over 2 days in Singapore at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event is in its second year running and is meant as a celebration of Japanese pop culture. And I’m sure it has been a tiring two days for organizers, exhibitors and visitors alike… I know I am. I trekked the event for 2 days and the aftermath are sore legs and the following field report of my experience this year.

 

upLark’s Mio … Moe Moe Kyun

upLark posted more preview photos of their upcoming 1/8 scale figure of Mio Akiyama in her school festival outfit on their blog as promised. The figure has also been officially listed on their official site. Pre-orders is set to begin in December next month and the figure herself is scheduled for release in either February or March next year for a retail price of 7,800yen.

More Figures Pre-orders and Mio Teaser …

Today has been bustling with figures news with Good Smile Company officially listing their new figures of Index and Nendoroid Jiei-tan for pre-orders while Kotobukiya also announces the uniform version of Xecty. At the same time, upLark offers a sneak look at the color prototype of their upcoming Mio figure. Sadly, there is also news of a couple of figures being delayed from release.

Anyway, here’s a look at Good Smile Company’s latest offering in the form of the 1/8 scale Index.

Review of Unity May

I decided to do another figure photoshoot review after the lingering unsatisfaction of the previous shoot of Donne Anonime. I reverted back to my usual setup and am more at peace with most of the resulting photos this time round. Anyway, my subject for this photoshoot is the 1/8 scale figure of Unity May by Good Smile Company. The figure was released in April earlier this year.

Review of Donne Anonime (Namae no Nai Onna)

For this figure photoshoot review, I decided to pick the most expensive purchase in my collection so far. She is Tora no Ana’s 1/6 scale figure of Donne Anonime a.k.a. Namae no Nai Onna who was released in May earlier this year. I am not very familiar with the character, but she is a bounty hunter from the Nitro+ eroge Satsuriku no Jango.
