Anime Festival Asia 2009, or AFA09 for short, was held over 2 days in Singapore at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event is in its second year running and is meant as a celebration of Japanese pop culture. And I’m sure it has been a tiring two days for organizers, exhibitors and visitors alike… I know I am. I trekked the event for 2 days and the aftermath are sore legs and the following field report of my experience this year.

Kannagi Fandom: Take 2
Posted by ELTboy on January 7, 2009
This is another Kannagi fandom post, continuation of my original post previously. Not. Anyway, this time round, Seiya of Heisei Democracy takes us to the actual origins of the Meido Cafe seen in Episode 6 of the Kannagi anime, where Nagi-sama and Tsugumi worked at the cafe as cosplaying waitress to earn their keeps. The real-life cafe though is known as Cafe Mai:lish.
For staters, here’s a comparision of the exterior look of the cafes:

International Saimoe League 2009
Posted by ELTboy on January 4, 2009
I was browsing through the internet when I came across this tournament – International Saimoe League 2009. It certainly seems to me to be the international representation of the Japanese Saimoe tournament. The only other such tournaments that I know of is the Korean version. For those unsure, these are all tournaments to identify the most moe (and in my opinion – most popular) female anime characters.

Kotobukiya Figure wishlist!
Posted by ELTboy on January 1, 2009
When I was writing my figure wishlist for 2009, I was actually thinking if it was ever possible for figure makers to seek fans’ opinion on the figures they want to be made of. Well, Kotobukiya made that come true by offering to grant us our wishes!
